Our government is no longer "of the people, by the people, and for the people.." Now we can substitute billionaires, corporations, and organizations for "people".

In the news accounts of gun deaths in this country, how many do we hear where someone shoots and kills someone to protect their family or property? How many people use their guns to protect themselves against a terrorist? And how many people need an assault rifle to bring down the average size deer? Is it really FEAR behind the need for so many guns in our society? The gun manufacturers (and the NRA) feed that fear. And the fear of losing support from them feeds the members of Congress.Marilyn Moragnehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18427476589355349725noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-684979241648085394.post-56462819037824937862018-02-17T15:18:24.838-06:002018-02-17T15:18:24.838-06:00I have seen many panel discussions on PBS concerni...I have seen many panel discussions on PBS concerning school murders. It has been said explicitly in measured terms that the NRA owns Congress, and THAT is the reason that nothing is done, e.g., NRA contributed over $350,000 to Paul Ryan. The NRA contributed $33.5M to Donald Trump. Others were mentioned on the News Hour, but these two stood our in my memory. It is no wonder that members of Congress don't want to alienate their benefactor, the NRA. Truman
Truman C.noreply@blogger.com
